What is a Family Physician?
Family physicians are specialists, just like obstetricians, pediatricians or surgeons. The family physician’s special job is to evaluate your total healthcare needs and maintain continuity of care. Family physicians are experts in common health conditions. They can oversee your care and serve as valuable consultants to the family in cases of more complex illnesses requiring the care of a specialist.

What is a Physician Assistant?
Physician assistants are certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) – a mark of professional accomplishment – and state-licensed. They are health professionals who practice medicine as members of a team with their supervising physicians. PAs deliver a broad range of medical and surgical services to diverse populations in rural and urban settings. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, and prescribe medications.

What is a Nurse Practitioner?
NP’s deliver a unique blend of nursing and medical care. They provide comprehensive, personalized health education and counseling. NP’s assist patients in making better lifestyle and health decisions. NP’s have distinguished themselves from other healthcare providers by focusing on the whole person when treating specific health problems and educating their patients on the effects those problems will have on them, their loved ones and their communities. NP’s are state licensed and work as a team with a supervising physician. NP’s conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, and counsel on preventive health care and prescribe medications.
